prison labor camp ? They were tried and convicted , I think they should do the time. They did break N. Korean Law.Hopefully they are not given preferential treatment or used as bargaining chips.

Maybe they will learn their lesson.

You must be incredibly naive if you don't realize that the entire reason they were taken and immediately tried and convicted was for the purpose of using them as bargaining chips.

They will definitely be given some preferential treatment. They have no value dead.

You realize 20-25% of North Korea's inmates die in the prisons' brutal conditions, right? North Korea is famous for having the most repressive prisons on the planet.

I don't know whether or not they deserve to be free, but they definitely don't deserve 12 years of Hell. With hope, their sentence will be changed to a lighter, more fair one. You are a sick person for wanting the opposite. It makes me question whether or not the people who say such things are even human.

Sure hope you get to visit N. Korea sometime. Time in a N. Korean prison after a typical kangaroo court conviction for being journalists? Oh, how self righteous you come across as! Cheney must be a good buddy of yours.

Besides being incredibly nasty, you are totally missing the point here. This whole issue is not about whether these journalists did or did not break North Korean law; North Korea is purposely using them as a political tool in its games with the U.S. Watch Anderson Cooper or some other informative political site and you'll understand North Korea's motives (with the whole nuke thing, etc.). Hopefully, diplomacy will resolve this but this administration has stated it will not fall prey to North Korea's games as past administrations (Clinton/Bush) have.
12 years....you should be thankful these two are not members of YOUR family....you might have different thoughts then.

You do realize that North Korea is run by a totalitarian dictator and that there aren't really laws, right? They were tried unfairly in a totalitarian court and have been convicted on a ridiculous charge of "hostile acts". Kim Jong-Il is using the two journalists as a bargaining chip in order to force the US to make some diplomatic concessions in order to secure the release of Laura Ling and Euna Lee. They'll get out soon, and North Korea will claim a victory over the US because they got what they wanted.

Those two women are innocent and hopefully they're freed soon.
