...had it actually work?
I've tried this before twice-once where it was shorter and I gave it to my Mum without speaking it, and the second time longer, but I read it so that she could see the body language, etc. Neither time worked in my favor-my Mum just seemed to twist everything I said, just like if I hadn't have written it to begin with.

In discussions, I am also the calm one who doesn't yell, etc.

Just wanted to know if it was working for anyone else...

Writing a letter to try to resolve a difficult issue can actually work against you. Without the benefit of eye contact, facial expression, and body language, your words can easily be misconstrued.

I would suggest that you send a very short note asking for a private meeting time so that you can discuss it. Then CALMLY outline your point of view. Be sure to listen when your parent responds; feeding back to them what you heard is a good way to make sure you're both understanding.

talking face to face is hard because you actually have to look at a person in the eye and tell them what you really feel, writing a letter can be easier just make sure your words are nice, ive done it before and it worked! :)
