Why do doctors prescribe them? I have been on soooo many that i can't even list them. None of them worked for me. All they did was change my personality for the worse and make my frienRAB think i was a freak lol. best thing i ever did was go see a shrink and get on klonopin, and talk things out with him. Which actually HELPS anxiety symptoms and gets you to the point where you don't care about irrational thoughts.

a lot of doctors I believe get commission for getting new drugs out to patients to get them tested and everything with the public.. ( oh this new drug just came and might do the trick for you blah blah). I'm sick of trying a bunch of drugs for anxiety and depression myself and I agree they don't seem to help and really do change your personality etc I have also freaked out my frienRAB at sometimes because they give me more of a "high" feeling then a normal feeling.
I also tried klonopin before and was way to strong for me.. same with xanax.. they do the trick for at the moment and you don't care about problems but you also don't care about anything and your high as a kite.. Good luck man.

I went to a shrink a few years ago who told me that he wouldn't treat me if I didn't take anti-depressants. I asked him what he prescribed for anxiety; only anti-depressants. I never saw him again. I take Lexapro for anxiety now I could hardly function and Xanax once or twice a day. Lexapro helps somewhat, but isn't exactly a wonder drug for me. I don't see a shrink.

yes they do take the edge off, i woulnt say they got rid of anxiety completely but i dont have so many shrtness of breath episodes now altho....

i halved my dosage and i have more now but i was on Prozac for almost 2 yrs and was wanting to come off completely i tried but had a bad panic attack, so now take one 10mg every other day and still am having symptoms, just not sovivid , scary and frequent.

My doc gave me Zoloft and we have increased it a couple of times. At first, I thought it was a miracle drug, but now I'm not so sure if it's even doing anything. I have anxiety and take clonazepam from time to time when I feel extra over-loaded which helps a lot. If I miss a dose or two of Zoloft I feel nauseous and dizzy and really feel like I just need to wean off of the stuff. Or maybe a different anxiety/anti-depressant med would work better? Zoloft is the one and only anti-depressant I've ever taken, so I have nothing to compare it to. I did switch docs and my new doc said that the old doc should have started me out on a higher dose of Zoloft for anxiety. I guess if used as an anti-depressant it's better to start with a lower dose.
