Socialism is NEVER decided by committees of "real" people, but the ones in the shadows, trying to hide their connections to the policies they get enacted. Kind of like how our laws have been passed for the past 18 months or so

Socialism is not a destination, but just the blacked out train that takes you to that destination; either Communism or Fascism
And yes, extremes are bad, this is why I phrased the question as I did; as government has taken over far too much of America, and needs to be reigned in.
Government greed is what got us here. Corporate greed is just an extension of that. You're looking at the wrong boogie man here
Government power, meaning trust in government, the more you give, the more freedom you lose, the more tyrannical the government. Socialism is absolutely NOT in favor of the poeple, but rather control over them, and is only a vehicle toward either Communism or Fascism. And spare me the whole "Left-Right" BS. These 2 ideologies are not on opposite ends of any spectrum. They have much more in common that any differences. There are only slight variations in how the goals of slavery are acheived. Communism is more covert

I didn't say anything about a "totally free" market, meaning no regulation at all, did I? I simply asked which you trusted more.
A corrupt corporation can be reigned in by the government(people). A corrupt, tyrannical government leave you no recourse. This is the direction we are heading
The government has EVERY incentive to control you; to maintain power and wealth. And you could view government as the largest of large corporations.
A large corporation isn't evil, merely by it's existence. A large government, with it's ties and influence peddling into all sorts of big business, foreign and domestic, is evil by it's very nature
