On Wednesday, the Nursing Home where I live had an outing to The AmeriStar Casino in KCMO. During lunch I went to the restroom, which turned out to be an experience. I can stand and use a walk for short distances, but mostly I use a wheelchair. My lower left leg is paralyzed, and my right leg has significant damage. When I got to the restroom, in order to get to the Handicap stall, I have to get up and fold the wheelchair to get it between the urinal stalls, and the toilet stalls to get back to the Handicap Stall.
I would like to tell someone about this so they they can encourage the casino to change it, but I don't know who. Worse, after using the toilet, I used the Safety Bar on the wall to move back around to my chair. It came lose from the wall and I ended up on my butt on the floor. Not a very dignified place to be. I had to get myself up to go report what had happen to the Activities Director from the Nursing Home because they had to make an official report.
Did make a $60 donation to their slots. A full month's allowance that I'm allowed to keep form my SSD. but it was the first time to go out and do anything fun in two years of living here.
