The reason i ask is i wonder how many people are actually aware that the social; workers have to go to a manager to get authorisation for anything,
so while they went out collected the Information it was the managers that decided what happened,
i have read a lot of questions regarding blame for this and it seems the social workers are getting the blame.
How many on here have an insight into how social services work or do you just listen to the news.
My uncle works for the child protection unit which covers hampshire social services and i asked him the same questions,
His response was while the team of social workers collect Information its the managers that decide what to do
so what does every one think?

Obviously the 3 scum involved are to blame for Baby P's death.

I blame everybody else involved for allowing it to happen.

He was on the Register for a reason - he should have had that extra protection.

Tracey Connelly, Steven Barker and Jason Owen are responsible for Peter Connelly's death, but the system failed him. I don't hold any one social worker responsible, but the pressures they are under, the paperwork they are drowning in, their lack of authority and the lack of respect for social workers and the social services generally. I don't think it's just Haringey either, it's a wider problem that stems from how dysfunctional we have become as a society.

Of course, the ones most to blamed are the ones who inflicted the abuse. The mother for not protecting her baby. And the social workers who after even 60 visits could not detect the abuse. i understand your point about the manager deciding but this is not a piece of that needs a manager's signature...this is baby we speak about. Abuse at this level should have easily been detectable and reported. It wasn't even reported. Even after 60 visits. Of course, the social workers should share the blame.

I blame those who used the baby as a punch bag - the blame for the baby's death should not be placed at anybody else's feet. I understand the frustration felt by everyone in relation to the social work department failure and there are undoubtedly questions to be asked but the blame should be firmly put on the people who killed the baby. Otherwise you're taking the responsibility away from them.

the majority of the blame lies with the mum
But social services do need to take some of that blame

they could have stopped the suffering of that poor little boy long before his death
