Who do u think is the best bassist

I am more hung up on live music than recorded music, 90% of the banRAB I listen to are banRAB that I have seen live. Furthermore, I have a very short attention span and if I spin a CD once and don't like it I will probably never touch it again.

Studio albums do not ROCK me, I am of the firm belief that it should not take 64 or 128 tracks to make a rock and roll record. Hence the reason why I would rather listen to the Stones than The Beatles.

Just the way I am: LESS IS MORE

I really don't know what this has to do with anything but it sounded reasonable in my head, I guess it is just a little insight into how I determine what I like

A little more than "rather".

Urban: Having your role in a band being completely demolished isn't exactly playing well... Solos aren't vital for a bass player, that is very true, but you say it's automatically a bad thing if a bass player chooses to put their ability to good use instead of just playing bitch to the rest of the band and completely wasting their talent, which couldn't be further from the truth.

As for Sid Vicious, i still can't take such a comment very seriously, as far as i'm concerned, he's the worst "bass player" in music history, not just because he couldn't play a half decent line if his life depended on it, but because he has set the role of the bassist back a million years, he has made a freaking joke out of the entire profession, and the fact that he's so popular is proof that some people just prefer silly stage antics over actual talent.... Bass players are not just "the other guy" and no matter what you say their role in the music is quite important.

Most banRAB don't have good bassits that's why people are mistaken into thinking that bass isnt important but, a good bassist makes a world of difference.

It`s hard to get my point because i`m responding to Boo Boo who keeps editing his posts after i`ve replied to them.

I`ve no problem with flash bass playing AS LONG AS IT WORKS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE SONG.

All I said was if I was in a band with a bass player showing off all the time i`d tell him to sod off & join a jazz band where thats acceptable.

Is that really that difficult to understand?

I think power trios is a good example of why bass is important and more than just filler. I infact love power trios mm Cream. Power trios is music in its simplest form, Melody, Countermelody, Bass, Drums, take anything out and you're left with crap.

I don't remeraber editing out some bit about solos, but i'm not trying to make it seem like you're saying something else, you're basically spewing out some kind of all bass solos = shit philosophy.

Bassists along with the Drummer are the backbone behind a band, if they do their job, their good enough.... Though a virtuoso wouldn't hurt either.

I`ll say Sid Vicious on account of the fact he was the first to realise people didn`t give a toss about bassists so just did random stuff to keep the crowd entertained.
