Who do I sue and where do I find info (gym/corporation)?

I am in dispute with a local gym in town. Basically I paid for a month of services that were not available to me. I asked for a full refund of that month ($179) and they told me no. After much back and forth (via email) I said I would never return and to cancel my membership. Of course that didnt happen and it went into collections and now they want $1200.
Anyhow I looked over the contract and I think I can get them in the "substantial changes" clause. I went to the Magistrate court today to file a claim. On my contract it says the gyms name (not an individual). The person behind the court counter advised me to go to the secretary of state website to find the "registered agent" of the company. I looked it up and found a name. Just to be sure, I called the gym to see if that name sounded familiar. The general manager didnt have a clue. So do I just put the defendant as the gym name or do I continue my research and find out who the actual owner is? Or should I just file using the gyms name as a defendant?

Thanks guys
I tried to settle with them and they offered me $40 (not the $179 I was out that month) and after they basically told me thats your problem, I said I would never return. Ive spoken to both the GM at the gym and also the Regional manager. Ive asked the owners name but I was told he doesnt talk to customers. I dont want to extend my time. Thank you though.
