Emus

Emus look like birds without wings, but the wings are no visible.

The scientific name of emus is Dromaius“ .

They eat insects, caterpillars, grubs and other invertebrates; seeds, nuts, flowers, fruits, young leaves and other plant parts; lizards, other small animals and even animal droppings. They don’t eat dry grasses or older leaves, even if that's all that is available to them.

Emus are native to the continent of Australia.
Emus live in all Australian states except Tasmania. They can be found almost anywhere in the country except within urban areas, although they can be found on the outskirts of these areas.
They are most common in New South Wales, in open scrubland and grasslands.

The wings hidden beneath hairy feathers.
Emus grow up to 2 metres tall.
In their native state, emus have a lifespan of 10-20 years.
An emu in the wild has a lifespan of up to ten years. In captivity, this extends to 20 years, and in rare cases up to 30.

Emus can sprint at 50 km/h for some distance at a time.

Since the middle of the 19th century Emus live in Kings Island and Kangaroo Island by the coast of South Australia.
