Who cares about the Oscars......

and what the slebs wear

am I the only one who has other things to worry about, more than what Penelope will be wearing; whether Keira will go with Maria Grachvogel; whether Helen Mirren will wear her trollope shoes..........???

watching both Lorraine on GMTV and This Morning, both speaking about "fashion predictions" or how their hair will look

It just does not enter my line of radar of "potentially interesting and thought provoking topics to discuss whilst waiting for a bus.........."

who gives a stuff??

i don't like the Oscars, not really that bothered about it, Its simple don't watch it!

well i suppose it is annoying that you do watch GMTV, with Lorraine going on about it!

I won't be ;)

I just object to my "life" vis a vis through the newspapers, magazines, radio and TV being hijacked by a slebfest of people I neither like or care about, and being told WHAT they are wearing!!

There is no escape! - the "before" bit (the predictions  ) the "actual event" where an announcer will be gasping for breath with excitement, as they declare that so and so is wearing

No interest whatsoever...........

Oscars, Baftas, Brits, Mobos, Comedy AwarRAB.........couldn't care less. Never heard of most of the 'stars' anyway.......

Pah !!............Humbug !!............. ;)

ermmmmmmm...........

not about the Oscars!!

what they Oscar nominees WEAR!!!

their items of clothing; jewellery; hair etc!!

I'm not a huge film buff but I find the Oscars interesting if only for the occasion, presentation and the speeches. It's also nice to see good films and good actors rewarded.

But it is a FILM awarRAB event and it does bug me slightly that the only angle most of the media coverage is focused upon is "did you see her shoes? My God what was she thinking with the hair??!?" I do realise that there will always be an appetite to gossip about this kind of thing but if you're going to cover the Oscars at least make it primarily about the award show itself rather than hours talking about what shoes Hale Berry had on and then a footnote at the end saying "...oh btw they also won the Oscar for best picture".

I'm with you. How is it interesting to know who wears what? I don't get it.
The AwarRAB themselves though can be quite fun to watch especially when people are struggling to look pleased for someone else

hmmmmmmmmmmmm

struck a nerve have I?? ;)
getting guilty feelings because you ARE more interested in the frocks than the films :p :D:D

I was not whinging anyway.......... I was merely making a comment, relative to how *I* feel, in regard to this country's (and America) OBSESSION with things of of little, in deed NO IMPORTANCE of my day to day life!!

I was under the impression that this was a "discussion" thread - a place where thoughts and ideas could be shared and remarked upon ;)

I cannot believe that anyone, really, really CARES a jot about who wears whose fashion! so why are we being told?? The thing is, as the actors are only borrowing them anyway, it's not as if they went off to Debenhams or New Look and chose the outfits themselves ;)

It turns into a fahion designer's "look what I have just run up on my Singer Sewing Machine with my Vogue pattern, the other day!" *metaphorically blowing on fingers* - an outfit that might be entirely magnificent and desirable but TOTALLY UNAFFORDABLE TO THE AVERAGE WOMAN ON THE STREET!!!!

why do you think the M&S advert campaign, that was broadcast during Christmas, was so successful?

It's all still a really big whinge. You've started a thread to tell us what you're not going to watch on TV. I'm not going to watch Holby City tonight. What's everyone else not going to watch?

Yeah I see your point, you get pages and pages in newspapers of who's wearing what when who won what is just a little corner in the bottom of the page, it's takes the attention away from the actual event.

They should cover the whole clothes thing in heat magazines.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

I have NOT ONCE SAID ABOUT WHAT I AM NOT GOING TO WATCH!!!!!!!

My comment was that stuff about the Oscars (unrelated to the actual films nominated ;) )was popping up on other programmes, that are not specifically related to the Oscars!! ie Lorraine; This Morning etc etc - (I wouldn't be surprised if Oscar mania didn't infiltrate Wild at heart at the weekend!!

'ooh look, that Lioness is wearing Julien MacDonald's post moderne range on the red carpet today and has matching Mulberry tote bag and a diamond necklette by Theo Fennell  )

I just find it tedious! - SORRY!! :o

If it was "an Oscars programme", I would avoid it like the plague!!

PS I won't be watching UEFA Champion's league tonight ;)

it's not just the telly, there will be "four page" exclusives in all the newspapers - tabloid and broaRABheet ;) - showing actors primping and pouting on the red carpet, with only a mere mention as to why they are there in the first place!!

It is not meant to be a fashion parade, it is meant to be a ceremony in which those people who are able to ACT are rewarded.
