me and my fiancee are planning to get married sometime next year...we already have a date and a couple of ideas of how we want our wedding...but who buys the wedding bands? we have talked about this many times but have yet to find that answer. can some one help us?

Shouldn't that be, "My fiancee and I" in your question?

Because you are getting into ritual that is thick with rules and procedure, you should find the answer to this with people who like rules and procedures.
Doesn't sound very good to me. Who needs it?

We just bought them together and split the cost. Mine was a little more expensive then his, so we just split the total cost. A couple of my friends, they bride bought the grooms and the groom bought the brides.

My biggest suggestion is do what works for the two of you. It doesn't have to be what is "traditional."

You each buy the other person's band. Most couples pay for their own weddings and the cost of the rings is budgeted into the wedding.

Usually the groom is responsible for buying the engagement ring and the brides wedding band, while the bride is responsible for purchasing the grooms wedding band. This is the traditional way of doing it, so that each of your bands is a gift from the other.

You both should buy the wedding bands together. Since you're getting married, any money you have now, will eventually become each others money after the wedding. So, talk about a budget for wedding bands and go together to pick them out.
