Who are your favorite poets?

Gerard Manley Hopkins, Alden Nowlan, Blake, Shelley, Byron, Keats, Tennyson and Robert Service. Oh, and Shel Silverstein - my first introduction to poetry.

My favorite is Sara Teasdale but I also like many others almost as well.

Gifts

I gave my first love laughter,
I gave my second tears,
I gave my third love silence
Through all the years.

My first love gave me singing,
My second eyes to see,
But oh, it was my third love
Who gave my soul to me.

The Song Maker

I made a hundred little songs
That told the joy and pain of love,
And sang them blithely, tho’ I knew
No whit thereof.

I was a weaver deaf and blind;
A miracle was wrought for me,
But I have lost my skill to weave
Since I can see.

For while I sang—ah swift and strange!
Love passed and touched me on the brow,
And I who made so many songs
Am silent now.

Sara Teasdale (1884-1933)

Well i like Edgar Allan Poe and William Shakespeare
but my absolute favorite is William Blake
I just love his poem the Tyger
and yes that is how it's spelled : )
Oh and Lewis Carroll he uses the oddest images
he wrote Alice in Wonderland and this really weird poem called the Jabberwocky wich is utter nonsense yet some how still sort of means something
he's famous for taking regular words and replacing them with ridiculous gibberish
read it on Wikipedia its hilariously weird

I very much like T.S. Eliot, I feel his works have inspired me a lot and helped me develop in my writing!
