I been having this old 86 Buick for a while now and it runs great has only 105XXX miles orignal everything. well i parked it for like 6 months cause belt broke and little over heated. well after that i put new belt on and i put the intake on all good maybe i crossed up a vaccum hose or somthing cause on cold starts the Check engine light comes on and it smokes right when i start it a big puff of smoke blows out muffler and then goes away instantly.

What could cause this? it kinda runs rough when cold also like small miss fires but right when it cranks on a puff of whitesh grey smoke comes out then goes away.

It looses verry little oil and looses no water at all.

Thanks!

white smoke usually indicates the engine is burning coolant. that would answer the small misfire and why it runs rough when it's cold. The overheating might have caused a small leak in the head gasket letting a little coolant to seep into the engine while it sits. It really doesn't take much to cause a white puff.
