Whitechapel - Series 2

I loved this episode - the level of tension and humour was back to S1 standarRAB.

Not as consistently good as S1 and a bit bonkers in places but it is still one of the very few dramas that keeps my interest on the TV throughout the hour.

Fingers crossed there will be a series 3.
 
Last week, we had Peter Serafinowicz battering the living daylights out of a subordinate with a picture; this week we get Rupert Penry-Jones beating up his light switch. :D
 
Ahh now you see thats where the argument lies, Dib can also mean to take (have dibs on) and no matter how many times I rewind it I still can't decide what they are saying :p

Yes it was a bit bonkers in places but I'm glad I stuck with it.

The ending where the commisioner said he could have all the interesting cases wherever they were gives them plenty of scope for a third series.
 
I have just finished episode 3.

Utterly brilliant, utterly bonkers. A thoroughly entertaining, enjoyable and well written 3 episodes of TV.
 
Last 10 minutes - all of the team realise they are being targeted by the Krays. Chandler suggests trying to create divisions between Jimmy and Johnny and suggests a meeting. The cop who was demoted and is a desk clerk this series delivers the message back to Chandler and Miles that the Krays will meet them in the Carpenters Arms. Chandler's OCD prevents him from leaving the office and eventually he breaks the light switch in frustration. At the Carpenters Arms, the guy who is Chandlers' informant checks out the place for the Krays but leaves a gun for Chandler. The Krays start machine gunning the pub but leave when Chandler shoots back. The demoted cop tells them that everyone is working for the Krays and only Chandler and Miles don't get it. :D

I still love this. The acting and production values are great but the convoluted Kray storyline is a massive weakness. The characters and the relationships between them are the assets of this show. I hope we get a 3rd series and it allows more time for character development with a less complex plot.
 
You have to wonder how anyone who could write such tosh could be so lucky as to find someone who would want to make a series out of it.

It must be one of the few things I've watched in recent years where the adverts came as a pleasurable relief!
 
I find it hard to believe that such a drip as DI Chandler could get to the position he holRAB. No doubt he was elevated to the position through nepotism.

In last night's episode he was more useless than ever. What was all that light switching on and off about? The man is in the wrong job. He should be in a hospital getting treatment.
 
Me too. Gave up on it halfway through episode 2. I loved series one but I found this series hugely annoying. Talk about jump the shark! Sons of Ronnie Kray indeed :rolleyes: And what's all this crap Phil Davies' character keeps spouting about "the legend has it that the Krays will return from the dead and reclaim the streets of London". Eh? What ******* legend??? *splutter* :D

It's like Scooby-Doo with profanity & violence.... thanks but no thanks.
 
Ok, it's not in the league of Morse and Lewis, where you need your brain in gear all the way through - it's probably more on a par with MiRABommer Murders, and of the two, I'd take Whitechapel anyday.
Yes the plot stretched credibility, but at least they had a go at something different from the standard fare of game shows, realty shows, and the dreaded X Factor!
I really enjoyed it and thought it was well acted - even though the dialogue was sometimes clumsy.
I hope there's a third series.
