Whitechapel - Series 2

I watched all 3 last night and enjoyed the series much like the first one. I did prefer the Jack the ripper one myself but it was still good to watch makes a change from the usually rubbish on TV
 
Prime example of when a follow up series does not work. They should have left well alone when the first series ended or, if ITV needed another detective series, just brought back and developed the characters.
 
Earlier in the episode at a meeting when they realised they were up against the "Krays" Chandler gave them the option of staying on the investigation or leaving (about ten did leave) In real life it seems highly unlikely they would be allowed to. One can only assume that some were scared or more likely in the pay of the Krays. It was the uniformed police at the station who trashed the office.



Verence - I wondered if you would come on. Have you found out the name of the actor who is the go-between yet? If you have let me know. I have e-mailed itv and if I get a reply I'll post it.
 
The actor playing the twins looks about 45, his mummy looked about 60 at the most, when exactly was ronnie kray supposed to have made his bank deposit?
 
It's unusual to find a show that totally polarizes the audience - reading this thread and Twitter, Whitechapel is either wonderfully watchable or a load of shite.

You either get it or you don't. It's an odd programme for ITV which normally likes middle of the road type of drama. I wonder if they are capable or interested in cultivating Whitechapel?
 
It should be good competition for Spooks.

The BBC1 show is not on the form it once was. Having said that, this weeks Spooks has been hailed by TV mags as the best of the series so far.

Let battle commence.

Oh and I'll be watching Whitechapel.
 
I thought the first series of this was brilliant - dark, atmospheric & tense.

This series, I am still enjoying but in a different way. You have to suspend belief, but I don't think it's taking itself too seriously and I'm sure the writers meant it to be that way.

I usually pride myself being able to spot a stinker, but this is an enjoyable bit of hokum. I'm already looking forward to hopefuly a third series, I do wonder though what mileage there is left in this idea.
 
Loved the first series of Whitechapel and was looking forward to this one. I'm still enjoying the characters and location but wish the producers hadn't painted themselves into a corner by duplicating the copycat theme in this second series.

I do find the stuff about the Krays interesting, though, as I don't know much about them. The old photos and film from the 50s/60s are interesting and evocatively used.

Pity that the plot has become so fantasical, really, with the arrival of the Kray twins mark II. As others have mentioned, though, I really enjoyed the comic aspects of the show, especially the donkey!

I wish there was scope for another series but I'd prefer to see it go forward with just a general storyline rather than this copycat mullarkey.
