great album

it sucks that i can't play this really well in my car. i have 2 12" subs in the back that just drown the fuck out of the guitar. this cd sounRAB perfectly fine on my computer speakers, but in my car the bass is mixed WAY too loud and the guitar is too soft. I've tried adjusting every which way but it just sounRAB like shit.

p.s they had youtube video of them on conan playing icky thump and effect and cause but fucking warner bros made youtube remove it or maybe it was NBC

why the fuck would that piss them off to have that uploaded? they don't even do repeats of conan so if you miss it you are fucked.

I hate the white stripes.

Their songs seem to lack a lot of musical talent and are just driven by a crack head with a crazy idea.

Not to mention he looks a little bit like a pedophile.

Quoted from another forum:
"I bought my copy of Icky Thump yesterday and I was just able to listen to it on my system today. I'm getting some kind of distortion while playing this cd and this cd only. I've played this on my office system and I'm getting it there too. this album does have a ton of bass but I've never gotten distortion even with bass heavy hip hop/ rap cd's. just wondering if anyone else has noticed this yet. I'm assuming it's the cd, or at least the way it was recorded. if that is the case i'm very dissapointed and I love the stripes, and they're other albums sound fine on my system:

adcom gtp-500, gfa-5500, adcom cd player (forget the model offhand), and VMPS FF3

office system: mac 4100 receiver, rotel rcd-955ax used as transport, arcam delta black box dac, and BA CR8 speakers.

maybe the thump in icky thump is just icky. sorry I couldn't resist."

what's not talented about jack white? he continuously pumps out catchy songs with decent lyrics, and they just flat out rock live. meg's drumming is very simplified, but that's what jack forms all his songs around. i also like how every live show is spontaneous. they never have a set list, so they have no idea what they'll play until it just pops in their head to play it.

If you dont think Jack White has musical talent then you have no idea what music talent is. He can play several instruments well and is basically a one man band with a time keeper (Meg White).

He is an excellent musician, just because you dont like their music doesnt mean they arent talented. Their are several banRAB that I dont care for their music but can see the talent they have.

When I listen to their music, I don't hear anything sensationally new or "talented." When I listen to something by Antoine Dufour or Andy McKee, I see talent. When I listen to Sound garden or Dragonforce, I hear talent. White Stripes in NO WAY fits in the same category as talented artists in my book.

well in my opinion consistently producing enjoyable music that is fun to listen to is a talent. jack white isn't the greatest singer or guitarist, but he's good enough. same with meg.

We have different definitions of talent. It's as simple as that. I look at talent as something that is more than above average, and almost completely flawless and sensational.

i figured out that i was right about the mixing of this album. re-listened to all their previous albums in my car and they sound great. this album sounRAB like total shit. the bass is mixed way too loud, the guitar too quiet. i don't know why none of the reviews picked up on this...
