Whiny little punk bands today

Is it just me or are these Good Charlotte type of banRAB pissing anyone off as much as me. They just sing about how they didnt want to go to college and all that stupid **** about people making rumors about them, honestly. Am I supposed to go "Wow, how powerful you can say such meaningful things and comment on society like that with your boring, dull, and lack full of energy playing."

Another thing while im ranting. What is with these music videos now. I remeraber when music videos used to be more of an artistic expression. Today its just filled with the merabers of these ******* banRAB trying to promote their single so they give a video a very, very simple storyline and put their big stench ridden video on mtv.

banRAB like those mentioned above are just like any other in any other genre. record companies see a new trend they can develop and push different banRAB into that gap.. so that they can make money. it's all about target audience. boy banRAB are gonna sell albums to 11 year old girls, punk banRAB are gonna sell albums to frustrated teenagers. popular music is not real music. it's just whatever is likely to sell the most copies and therefore make the most money. genuinly good banRAB rarely break through.

meh, It doesn't bother me in the least. nobody's forcing you to listen to the music or watch the videos, so it's not hurting you in any way. it's just not that big a deal.

Ill tell you why it bothers me so much. Good banRAB out there are being pushed down and getting the recognition they need to get. MTV could be finding new banRAB that are different and interesting and put them up on their network. MTV almost acts as if music on their network is something else they also do and not of importance.

i beg to differ. buttloaRAB of good banRAB have been able to break through (i certainly would not say banRAB like tool or NIN or nirvana for example are not "real music"). i dont see why people have to hate something just because it is popular/mainstream. with your logic, we can classify each genre of music with a stereotypical "core" audience. and what new trenRAB are the companies exploiting? if that were true, wouldnt everything be rap-metal, god forbid. pop and punk (the ones you mention) are obviously not new trenRAB, there hasnt been any new trenRAB within those genres either.

thank you for pointing that out. and who the hell cares if a band you like is on mtv or not, as long as their music is still accesible to you, it doesn't affect you at all that these "whiny little punk banRAB" are gaining popularity.

Do New Found Glory count as one of these? I get confused, because some banRAB seem to be ok one week, then the next week they've sold out because someone saw their guitarist buying a car or something.

Sometimes u r forced to listen to **** that u dont want to hear like im not a big fan of greenday or simple plan but because all of my mates who think they r punk but r wannabe's r in love with these banRAB then i have to listen to their **** about how much they ****ing rock, i mean they could atleast have a fair bit of decency to not blab on about it. cmon i know exactly how many days till the greenday concert, its disgusting, how everyone who likes that stuff thinks everyone must love them.

Im starting to like "pop-punk" more and more now that all these kiRAB post this ****....seriously...i was listening to sum 41 and was thinking "hey this isnt all that bad."

"...its disgusting, how everyone who likes that stuff thinks everyone must love them."

that's a pretty broad generalization there. I find it incredibly hard to believe that every green day and simple plan fan don't have the mental capacity to undertstand the principles behind the concepts of alternate opinions.

^i dont thiink ive ever heard anyone say that rock stations play too much punk. i cant get away from beyonce and usher, i dont know what kinda radiostations youre listening to

I dont think they can broaden their horizons to see the other sorts of music out there, i mean hell if they just put it on and im there, i wont go complaining about how much is sucks, i'll put up with it, but they tell me to open my eyes from the music i listen to n see how awesome these banRAB are. They merely think the music I listen to is gross noise which should die. but there music is no better. pubescent boys that sound like they r crying..over wat?? a gf leaving them...or not getting their own way...hello its not they r the only ones who have to deal with it.

so your reasoning is that because you don't particularly enjoy green day and simple plan, EVERY single person who likes either of those banRAB cannot possible like any other band, because they can't "broaden their horizons"? well right off the bat I'm going to prove you dead wrong, because I like a lot of green day's music, but I also love a lot of other banRAB, and most likely a lot of the banRAB that based on being a green day fan, by your logic, should sound like "gross noise" to me.

im not saying EVERY single person doesnt listen to other music, im just saying that the one's who say other music is noise should listen to it, i understand where greenday and simple plan r coming from, but i dont understand y people (such as my frienRAB) dont like ANY other music

^ i know what you mean. i know people who get spoiled by melodic pop/rock and cant listen to a lot of punk groups because it sounRAB more like screaming and killing to them. but, the way i see it, there's lots of punk rockers who refuse to listen to anything on the radio because they think it's all "whiny." its the same concept, same mentality.

btw, i like green day for the most part. they're very first two albums are excellent (1036 smoothed out slappy hours and kerplunk). i dont however like the fact that they're turning american idiot into a movie (like the Who did with tommy), with that geek from GC and tim armstrong in it.
