Whining sound from Chevy Impala 07?

Sometimes, when I start my engine, it makes a whining sound. Or when I accelerate, it gets louder, but when I coast or take my foot of the gas, it does make that whining sound. I took it to Sears to get my oil change and asked them about it and they said something about some belt. If anyone has advice or help, it's appreciated

Yes, it is a 2007 model.
My grandfather got it for me in December of '08, used.
It did the whining sound some in June, but after I got my oil changed it hasn't done it until last week. I don't know if it's the oil or...what...

If has a warranty, then take it to the dealer. But it may be the oil pressure. But if it continues, then take it to a mechanic.

It is a 2007 impala? How many miles? If it is under warranty take it to the dealership, and it should be repaired at no charge to you.
