whenever my engine (V8 305) is reving there is a whinging noise in the engine. its done this since i bought the car. its a 92 camaro so it might be cause its old? also my oil pressure gauge is really low and i just changed the oil like 600 miles ago. its almost in the red zone and it goes up a little bit when the engine is hot. is there a common problem or no? mainly though whats the whining noise?

what oil did you use, if you are using 5w-30 it might be time to switch to 10W-30. the whining is probably the power searing pump, water pump, or a belt.

Remove the fan belts and rev the engine briefly to see if it still whines. If it doesn't, be happy because it's an accessory like the power steering pump, alternator, water pump etc or a belt making the noise rather than the internal engine itself. The only way to check the true engine oil pressure is to install a shop oil pressure gauge on the engine. The oil pressure will be lowest at hot engine idle and should measure more than 12 psi typically.
