While driving my 1997 Honda Civic last night, smoke came out of the front of the hood.?

There was a little bit of fluid leaking from it as well. I know NOTHING about car repair, so forgive my ignorance.. Any ideas what it might be? If so, any ideas what I should pay? I don't want a car repair shop to take someone as uneducated as I am on the subject to the cleaners. Thanks!
