which would be better as a first car: honda civic or toyota corolla?

whichever one i choose it will probably be a 08 or 09 model, so which would be better for a young driver as his first car? looks, performance, price, etc.
 
Toyota Corolla.

They are great cars, nothing ever goes wrong with them, they are good on gas, lots of after market goodies and because there are so many of them, they are a low profile car - meaning the police aren't always looking for them.

The sun/moon roof is worth the extra money, I wish I had taken the fully tinted windows option. < sigh >

That will have to wait until my next Toyota Corolla.
 
Im getting my first car in jun/july and Im probably getting Toyota Camry or Mazda6, but if you have to get one of the 2 get the Toyota Corolla because Honda Civics are junk car that poor people buy and try to make better with stupid exhaust to make the engine sound louder. I would probably be getting a Corolla but my mom doesn't thinks it safe enough.
