Which system to get?

This thread has probably done many times, but I don't really care.

I'm starting to get interesting in purchasing a new console. Maybe to play some Madden or some driving games, I don't know. The last time I touched a video game was GTA:SA.

What are the pros and cons of each? The main two that interest me right now are Xbox360 and PS3, but for some reason Xbox is more appealing to me, not sure why.

Is there a site that shows the full game lineup for each? What's good and bad for each? I'm nowhere near a hardcore gamer or anything, but kind of want to start playing casually again.

Thanks

For Madden 07 Wii is the superior choice, For racing I would probably say X360 will be the better choice because it has so many more games out already, the PS3 just has GT HD and the MotorStorm demo I think.

If you want instant gratification get a 360, if you want something fun and innovating and are one of those gameplay>graphics guys get a wii. But if you want to wait it out by this time next year the ps3 will have some awsome games out.

Just get the XBox360 and hope that it'll last you a year. (A guy at the local Gamestop said that he wanted an XBox180 because he wanted to pay $200 for it. I said that I thought he meant that only 50% of the units don't burn up. (The sales lady smiled.)) Get the extended warranty from GameStop or EBGames. Absolutely. If Best Buy sells a two or three year warranty extension - buy it without a second thought. I've heard that MS has extended the warranty from 90 days to 1 year.

It's next gen, it is just as good as the PS3 graphically, you're not paying for a Blu-Ray player (so it's cheaper), it can up-convert to 1080i. Just make sure that you have plenty of airflow all around it. I don't like the fact that it uses laptop hard disk drives, though, that just makes it more expensive. Personally, I don't like the shape of the XB360.

Otherwise an original XBox or PS2 should set you back some $125. You could get a GC but chances are that there's only 5 games you'd end up buying. (I bought a GC controller and GC memory card for my Wii.) I think that PS2 games are starting to dry up. I'm hoping that it is just the Christmas season, though.

Choose a game, google for the title's review and read. But don't always believe the reviews, either. There have been some well reviewed games which I absolutely hated. For example, Xenosaga III got great reviews. After playing it for 30 minutes I knew that it wasn't for me. Rentals are the way to go. If you love the rental then you buy the game after you return it to Block Buster or Hollywood Video. If you beat the game in 10 hours then chances are that it isn't worth the $50 or $60.

So, I say, buy the XB360 then rent a few games. Blockbuster has two game rentals for $10. Spend $20 for 4 games and get "new-cosole-itis" out of your system.
