ok i saw the movie "mist" and liked it really alot and thought i should read some of stephen king's book and most of them are like 700-1000 pages. so im going to read the short stories books.

which one is better
1. night shift
2. skeleton crew
3. nightmares and dreamscapes

give me reasons why which books are good and which are not if there is other short stories thats not written above, tell me.

thank you

The best book if you want short stories is four past midnight which is a collection of short stories so you can stop in between stories.

Different Seasons contains four short stories, three of which have been made into movies - Apt Pupil, The Shawshank Redemption, and a story that was made into the movie "Stand by Me." Absolutely King's best work.
There's also Hearts in Atlantis, which also contains short stories, and that's just a really enjoyable read. Not much horror.
The Gunslinger is a novel of his, but it's relatively short.

I like Everything's Eventual. It's not on your list, but in my opinion it's the best -- there are many stories in the collection, and they all have different tones.
