Which sports car should i get?

you don't want to go lower than 2002 but a 1998 pontiac trans am is a nasty car. make sure its got the ls1 in it. a scion tc is not a good car if you want a sports car and a rx8 is okay but your looking at another 5 grand to make it fast. it is an alright car though

I have about $10,000 to spend, and I'm 17 and looking to buy my first car. I'm currently thinking about getting the Scion Tc or Mazda rx8, but I'm open to suggestions. I also want it to be fairly new, preferably no older then 2002. The sharper it looks the better. (I'm also a boy) (And please do not try to tell me how sports cars are dangerous or about the proce of insurance.) Thanks for your help!

trans am or camaro v8 lt1 or ls1 depending on the year.
they are very fast and can get faster
you would want a "f body" after 1993.
production ceased on these cars in 2002 i believe.
scion tc isn't really a sports car, and you would be hard pressed to find an rx8 for 10k. also with the rx8, upgrades and performance is limited compared to imports (turbo kits etc) and domestics (cam shafts, throttle bodies etc)
the rx8 has a rotary engine, which I'm sure you're not familiar with, and would probably not be looking to get involved with as your first car if you could simply get a nice 350 ci small block v8 to learn and play with. i kno the t.a and camaro are older, but they are fast as hell and still look great
for the record, i picked up a 76 corvette, which was one of the least desirable years for their engines, and upgraded the whole thing, for under 10k, and i have something i can bring to car shows. if you can get lucky, and find a classic, more power to you. literally.
drive safe.

with the economy the way it is, you lucked out because so many people are trying to get rid of them because of high fuel/insurance costs :)

Check out:
Toyota Celica
Acura RSX
Nissan Z
Honda Civic (Coupe)

The RSX is my favorite, but its the most expensive car to insure because its known for racing, and it's fast, small, and handles really well.

The Celica and the Civic are also really good choices, they were really popular when they came out, and parts are readily avaliable for them.

The Z Is also like the RSX, fun to drive, but expensive to insure.

The tC is actually based off of the Toyota Celica platform, so your getting a really similar car there, while the RX8 is a fun to drive car, its really not that much of a looker.

good luck!

You are not going to get a sports car for 10,000 unless you can find an owner who needs money desperately. Search the want ads.

Get the rx-8

Its not fast (when compared to a porsche) but has more than enough power for a 17 year old (or anyone else who is not a LeMans driver) and like all Mazdas, has a suspension and steering system that are absolutely awesome!! Real racing is not about straightline acceleration anyway

other good bets would be the SVT Focus and SVT Contour...they have very decent online communities and aftermarket support. But both come out of the box as amazing!!! the SVTF is "chipable" to make it faster and boost gas mileage
