This will be my first Smartphone. I've been with Verizon for like 4 years and really love them, I have had really great service and customer service is unbelieveable. I considered switching to Cingular after Verizon left RadioShack, but decided I would rather stay with Verizon. Anyhow, I have a few (cough.several.cough) questions to help make my decision. Anyhelp you could offer me would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to this and kind of lost
For starters, a little bit about how I will be using it. I have a business that is mostly done by e-mail and computer, so things are coming in all the time. I like to keep up with everything I have to do when I am away. Mostly I just need to answer some e-mails, but also do get online once and a while.
Now, onto my phones.
Right now I am considering 3, maybe four phones. Originally I was looking at a Blackberry, but since it can basically only handle e-mail (no attachments) I'm not really sure this is what I would want.
I am considering the:
Palm Treo 650: Basically, I like the price of this one, it seems to get really good reviews. I like the size and feel of it and the touch screen is also a plus. Based on the reviews I have read, they seem to be pretty good (using Cnet and Yahoo! Tech) But, what I don't like is that Cnet says the Bluetooth can be a problem, the headset jack is nonstandard, bad audio quality and no analog (which is kind of important since I am in a small town) The only thing I'm not sure about on the Palm is if it is expandable.
Samsung SCH-i730: This one seems like it could also work for me. I like that it has the extra battery, the hideaway keypad, extra wireless support, speakerphone, etc. I also believe this has touch screen, a nice feature in my opinion. On CNET, it says that Wi-Fi and phone can't work at the same time, so I'm not sure if that means I can't answer e-mails and get online while on the phone or something else. I also don't understand what it means by no modem-support using a laptop. Also, I have a Samsung on my second line right now, and the phone has been replaced 3 times because it completely stopped working and it is about ready to do the same thing again, all in a little over a year. So I'm not sure if this is something that is common with Samsung or just the phone model I had.
Verizon XV6700: The big plus on this one was the size of the screen and keypad. Since I would use it to answer e-mail a lot, I thought the extra space would be great. Again, I like the hideaway keypad. But, I have a hard time finding reviews and the reviews I have found were less than desirable. I'm not sure what it means by "verizon restricts the wireless radios" on the phone. And it also says the call quality and talk time isn't that great.
Motorola Q: Obviously looks and size are a key here, but not really what is important to me. It does get pretty good reviews. The good for me is good call quality, bluetooth and speakerphone. The negatives for me was listed in the review and I don't really understand what it means "The Motorola Q lacks integrated Wi-Fi and analog roaming, and you can't use its Bluetooth as a wireless modem." And the biggest issue is that one review said that getting POP 3 e-mail can be impossible or simply terribly annoying, which would be terrible for me. The review also said that it is nearly impossible to get attachments from the phone.
So if you have any opinions on the phone I've listed I would appreciate it. I'm just not sure which one is the best for me, or if there would be another one to work better. I'm also wondering if I would be better off just getting a Blackberry so I know the e-mails work smoothly and can avoid the hassle.
Note: I've already posted this on another area, but posted one really large question, so I've decided to split it up to make it easier.
