Which shows will get axed next year?

As Jim Rockford once pointed out, "Nothing lasts forever." Even Doctor Who will be axed one day (again). Heck, even Coronation Street will come to an end sooner or later. (No, you say? No one thought the sun would ever set on the British Empire either...)

BBc1 from 6.30pm neeRAB a total overhaul. Dreary, stale & totaly lacking anything of any note.

The BBC neeRAB to be brave & axe Eastenders, Casualty & Holby. Dr Who neeRAB taking to the big screen. SCD neeRAB giving a break.

ITV is beyond help. The whole lot of it neeRAB peddling.

C4 again , if it went off the air would anyone notice?

:)

Based on that logic shouldn't we axe Corrie? After all Harold Macmillan was in power when that first launched

I think dramas such as Waterloo Road, Casualty, Holby and Sci-fi stalwart Doctor Who are safe. Torchwood could be an interesting one if it doesn't take off when aired next summer.

Daybreak will also be an interesting one - I suspect a 'tv-am' in that it won't get axed, but it will be given a massive overhaul and the lovely Lorraine could be back on the sofa for the main programme for the first time since tv-am finished in 1992!

Thinking of other programmes - it would be no suprise if 'WWTB Millionaire' got the boot and if the new cast of Skins don't work out then another P45 could be on its way there. Has Shameless had its day too?!

I've read somewhere (can't remember where so not sure how true it is) that both Robert and Zoe haven't been pleased with the quality of some episodes in recent years and the 11th series will be the last. As much as I've loved the show over the years, I think it's time is over and it's probably best to put the money into another new comedy.

Doctor Who will never be axed. :p

Seriously, if the BBC don't want to make it anymore they'll put out a statement saying they think it's seen better days, that they want to reboot it, that it'll be back but it might be a while, etc etc etc. They wouldn't come out and say it was axed. No way. There'd be a massive shit storm.

The one time they did axe Dr Who, in 1985, the BBC were forced into a U turn in under a week due to them being on the verge of getting negative publicity from every newspaper in the world and the BBC not wanting protests outside the House of Commons over the issue, which there were about to be. They were applying for new contestants when I caught the end of an episode recently prior to BBC News at Six.

As for next year, well I reckon there is a good chance that both Hollyoaks and Live From Studio Five will be cancelled. C4 and C5 need to find stronger alternatives to the regional news on BBC One and national news on ITV1.
