Which scene in which movie shocked you the most?

Cape Fear - I may be remembering these details incorrectly as I've steered clear of this flm after first viewing - Robert de Niro's character attacks a girl and during the attack he bites her face - it's savage and vile!

For me it was the Omen, - well I think it was the Omen I'm too scared to watch it again.
There is a scene when a guy is in a lift. He wants to go down but the lift goes up, then the cable snaps. The lift hurls down the shaft to the ground throwing the man to the floor. Then he hears a noise as the cable continues to thrash around. The man is now pinned to the lift floor in fear, then realizes that he's safe as in the distance he can hear is the cable banging against metal. All of a sudden the cable cuts straight through the lift and slices the man in half.

I am now petrified of lifts !

I've been thinking on and off all day about my worst scene. Horror doesn't scare me, some scenes (like the needle one) make me squeamish but don't actually worry me.

But I've remembered the scene that had me thinking about it for days in disbelief. In the film 'O Lucky Man!' with the magnificent Malcolm McDowell, there is a scene in a clinic where he comes across a man/pig hybrid. I remember it as being a man's head on a fat wobbly pig's body, he spoke to Malcolm and I was just so shocked at the whole scene.

It was made in 1973 and such things were the stuff of science fiction then, nowadays with cloning, pigs hearts being used in humans, growing ears on mice and face transplants, it's becoming science fact.

Although I first saw Psycho many years ago now, the shower scene still makes my stomach churn. It is a masterpiece of screen editing using the music played by strings (composed by Bernard Hermann) to a great effect.

I have to agree too, probably more sickening. Can't imagine what it was like to film the scene, they had to shoot it 6 times and had no restraints apart from it must be shorter than 20 minutes. Horrifying scene.
