Which sat provider is more east facing?

At one of the places I lived in Edmonton, my blacony faced East, and I was able to catch expressvu, so if your in Van, your dish should point even further east then here, so i dont see why not, as long as you see i good portion of the south from your balcony and clear to the east, youll be fine. Its probably around the Saks\Man border where the dish is dead on south and as you continue going east you start facing the dish towards the west. starchoice's straigh the south is closer the ab\sask border.

Hmmm I entered my information. And I have some results but I don't see any green line to the satellite?

Hmm interesting its said maybe southwest for BEV

P.S I have figured this site out-excellent link-thanks!! Hmmm I might be able to get a signal for 91.

Smaller dish equals lower signal gain. Lower look angle means more atmosphere for signal to penetrate through, thus greater chances of rain fade. Vancouver isn't exactly known for sunny skies especially this time of year. Former SC sub for 5 years, current BEV sub for 5 years. Experienced both. Fanboi of neither. Now back on topic. If the OP wants BEV he is certainly not making a mistake going that route and I wouldn't try to talk him out of it. Just pointing out some facts about satellite tv in general he should be aware of.

Sorry, I actually haven't been there in a while. It's a blue line. Did you see that?

Keep in mind that Bell sats have a very low look angle from the west coast + subject to rain fade

Well now we know where you are, you are wanting to look South west....

Try this

Hmmm I just realized after looking at the dishpointer site, everything seemed possible for BEV but once I got on my balcony (scared of heights) and looked along the line of sight, an apartment building "seems" to be in the way unless the dish has to face quite high LOL. I have lived here a few months and never stepped onto the balcony. My building is actually further from the road then the buildings next to me. LOL So not likely to work.

Hey, book an install anyway after getting the Landlords permission of course, they will try everything they can.

This does not answer the OP's question in the least but only serves to attempt to defile ExpressVu's service.

Yes yes :) great site and the best one I have seen for satellite direction withouth all the numbers.

Looks like I can maybe obtain 82 but 91 not too sure. In this case there really is no point as I need the sat (91) that carries the HD.

I am waiting for approval from the landlord for a dish and then I think I am close enough that I will book an appointment with BELL and see if they really can get a signal.

Thanks!!

I disagree, it does not hurt in the least to expalin the situation he will be in if he decides to pick Bell. If the inforamtion is factual which it was, I see no reason why it cannot be stated. This is the whole point of of a forum.

It can also be mentioned then that a larger dish will resolve this issue. There are many 3rd party dishes that can be used. These are common up north, or anywhere where people have low signal. It doesn't help if there is something physical blocking the signal, but can help with rain fade or atmospheric conditions.

Once the Landlord gives permission go ahead and book the Installation, the installers only get paid if they can get you set up so they will do almost anying they can to get you going.

Good luck.

Yes lyngsat will tell you what is on 82. There is NO HD on 91 right now.
