Which Racing bodywork and which mods for racing.

I am planning to return to racing next summer and would like to do it on my 848.
Of course I will start on Novice / Amatour level. Can someone recommend which is the best fitting racing bodywork for ducati 848. Durability and price is also important so please give your opinions.
Also, what are the 'must do' modifications to make me somewhat competitive on my ducati.
I used to race SV650 and GSXR600 in the past but never ducati so any help is appreciated.

Must have mods for racing:
14T front sprocket or 41/42 rear
slipper clutch
Suspension-Ohlins front and rear

These mods would be nice but not must haves IMO:
rearsets
gear indicator would be nice
Exhaust with ECU and race filter

sharkskinz or attack bodywork
Dan Kyle 30 mm triple offset (to achieve a 101mm trail)
Ohlins forks or internals
Ohlins TTX shock (please note that Dan Kyle has a deal of the 25mm fork cartridges and TTX for $2000)
Upgraded steering damper
a slipper clutch
some serious tires, whatever your class/series allow

Go on a diet
Get the bike on a diet and take off anything you don't absolutely need, replace things as you can afford for lightweight/titanium
Practice your lines and your throttle control
have fun

how fast were you on the other bikes.. podium, mid pack? i ran last season ccs basically stock and made the podium almost every weekend. bare minimum get springs for your weight, front too soft rear too hard. adjustable rear link. quick change rear sprocket setup with 39-41 along with 14t front. i didnt have too much luck with hotbodies fitting good. if you dont have exhaust get the a&r baffle on ebay and save alot of $$

i had my first crash last week on the attack bodywork. honestly, i like my sharskinz better on the k4 gixxer 750. they seem to be less stiff and more flexible. thus less prone to cracking in some areas. but many like the attack bodywork on the duc, next to sharkskinz and catalyst.

all other mods are pretty much dependent on individual preferences. i figure you know suspension is on the top. i don't have an 848 though but rather a 1098s so can't comment on 848 specific stuff.

I'll echo what the guys above have said and the immediate list is as follows:
30mm Offset triples from DK or someone else.
Steering Damper
Adjustable rider height rod
Definitely a new rear shock
Fix the Forks
14T sprocket with quickchange rear carrier.

That gets you in the door quite well. Everything after that is extra goodies that'll only make it better.

I have used sharkskinz last year and this year I am using Attack, and the Attack are a far better product. Sharkskinz with the full race tail causes to much stress on the fairing mount brackets on the side of the tank and breaks them due to flex. Get the speedymoto through the bodywork sliders as they are the best out there and save you money! They are an absolute must from the start!! Slipper will help get you off the line better during launches and help increase corner speed. Dan Kyle is the the way to go in my opinion. Great guy, great service. Don't waste money on forks, get the 25mm inserts. I don't find that the 848 with proper geometry gives much headshake but it does take away the little acceleration wobbles, but I race this year without one. Def'n 14/42 for shorter tracks/tight turning. I love my linear link/ttx rear shock, bike is way more stable!

i would agree on the tail mount superbike tail or not. i think you have to use wellnuts (is that the right term) so that the bodywork isn't the only thing having pressure from the bolt when mounted to the frame. I don't have a superbike tail (have one on the gixxer, still super strong thru 3 crashes, though all lowsides). what i just didn't like is there was a fair amount of surface cracking or a layer of the fiberglass that occurred. but it still withstood a lowside at T1 Infineon. it's just that compared to my sharkskins, the sharkskinz were a little more flexible but the paint prep on the attack was pretty good.

if the 848 clipons are same as 1098, i just realized the stockers are a pita to replace the bars on. I have spare vortex bars that are just uber tight to slide into the stock clipons. even removing the plastic cap, i had to use a rubber mallet to insert it. worse, the inside of the two bolts require a notch on the bar to let it thru. stock bars have that notch in them. so you have to file a notch thru. you'll see what i mean once you remove the bars, not to mention working with the pins to hold the clutch-side switch and the clutch MC.

the above is just some non-racer friendly items on the bike that makes crashed parts replacement process a pita. i just ordered some vortex just to get out of prepping bars with notches on them.

i'd get the front axle sliders (don't get r&g as it's a pita to use the under the fork stand) and the swingarm sliders. my r&g protected the swingarm but there's no replacement parts for the derlin. so i switched to speedymoto swingarm sliders and they look beefier actually.

don't bother with acculign rearsets. the eccentric will not hold on a crash. i know so from my lowside and looking closely at the design why the collet and peg were missing after my crash. they're nice, but just can't hold up in a crash. i;m going back to my trusty vortex.
