Which Political party is in line with your views

I will repeat

Individually, your vote means nothing!!!

Your vote will not sway the vote of your state one way or the other, but if enough people are like you and just vote for a majority candidate you will lean the vote enough against the person you actually want to win. If you want a Democrat or Republican to win, but if not, you have a responsibility to vote for the person you actually want to win, not just to vote for someone and hope you can tell your frienRAB "I voted for the winner"

It's people like you who make it so that no other party has a chance to win. I don't know what state you live in but for the presidency, I'm guessing your state didn't have a 1-vote differential. As long as it didn't then your vote will not individually change the outcome anyway. The least you can do is vote for the candidate that actually reflects your views. If you continue to think that the minor parties have no chance to win, then you are becoming part of the problem with this country, only 2 choices in any political decision, you pick either black or white, when you may want a lighter shade of gray.

My preference is the Libertarians, although I suspect many of their positions would be hard to put into practice. They seem much more of a pipe-dream type of party, and is probably why they continue to flounder.

BTW, I take exception to the statement that voting for a losing party or candidate is throwing one's vote away.

I chose "other".

At one time, I would have chosen "republican". Now that the republican party has become the party of massive social programs, unprecedented government growth, and destruction of personal freedom, I am going to have to pass on the republicans.

I think the libertarians have a good take on personal freedoms and liberties, but their take on laissez-faire is a little too idealistic for my tastes simply becuase big business has shown repeatedly that they cannot be trusted. They need some level of regulation. Additionally, as we have seen in the gradual decline of US manufaturing and our growing trade deficit (and debt), some elements of mercantilism may not be a bad thing.

For the most part, republican. I do value democrat ideologies regarding the government serving the people a bit more than I do the republican attempts, however until the dems can get on the side of pro-gun, pro-life, and get away from government cheese and feel good political correctness, I will NEVER vote democrat.

The lesser of two evils. Vote republican. :p

Last election, as someone else put it, was between dumb and dumber. I voted for dumb. :p

I like the Reform party platform the best, I guess. Personally, I'd like to fuse the Independence, American Reform, Reform, and Libertarian parties together (the first 3 are close in platforms). Getting a platform of small government, solid defense, and government accountability.

So I am solidly 'other', in other worRAB.

I agree. I'm tired of people supporting all stuff their party does and not liking something the other side does. If Kerry went to war in Iraq, did wiretaps, etc. it would be a reverse. Many liberals would be justifying the war/wiretaps and the Republicans would be accusing the liberals of violating the Constitution. I have my views and choose what party I relate to based on MY views, NOT their views. As I said earlier, I identify with the Libertarians the most, but I will NOT agree with something just because they do, in fact I support public schools or at least some assurance that everyone will receive an education, because otherwise everyone will be on an uneven field. I go with what I believe, not what my party believes. Take a look at any Congress votes, I wish not only people in Congress but citizens would vote for what/who they really want, not what is associated with their party.

Read up on the Libertarian party they are in line with the republicans on economic issuses and steal votes from the republican party. If fact your beloved Newt Gringrich is a libertarian at heart and espouses many of the libertarian values.

A lot of people think libertarianism is a good thing, even me at one point, but slowly I realized the implications of such a philosophy. I'm still a civil libertarian, but when it comes to big business, the environment, and social security, libertarianism is bad medicine. They spout pet theories about how endangered species would be protected by people owning them (for what?) and how old people won't starve because of the kindness of people's hearts, but none of these things worked in the past when America was actually quite libertarian when it came to these matters, so why should it work now or in the future? Government institutions and laws were enacted to solve problems and making these solutions go away, however flawed they may be, won't make the problems go away.

what you see as the democratic party moving to the left is actually the republican party moving to the right and spinning the truth to make them look like the party of moderation.

In terms of the environment, I completely agree. I think it is the responsibility of the government (which makes it the taxpayers) to help protect the environment. I have not heard stuff about endangered species, but I think the point about old people is that they should save themselves, not rely on the government to take their money and save it for them. Would you like it if I did that? Came up and said: "here, let me have your money, I'm going to steal it from you to give to other people who need it more than you, but don't worry. When you get older I'll steal from someone else and give it to you". That is effectively what is happening.
