Which Platform??

My question is which platform would you choose/chose and why?

I am mainly thinking about Sprint phones so that leaves me with:

1. BB
2. Palm OS
3. Android

What do you think??

As always thanks for any thoughts on the subject. I find these forums to be a great source of information.

Thanks

Hey Dave - you may want to be a little more specific about what you intend on using the device for....my family/friends know that I've been through more than my share of phones/platforms (my share, and most others share as well!), so I get asked a lot about which phone I would recommend. I always tell them before I can answer, I need to know the top 3-5 things they plan on doing with the phone. With that info, you can pretty much nail down options. Also, virtual vs. physical keyboard plays into it as well.

Just a thought!

I just finished testing a Palm Pre for 30 days on Sprint and was impressed with it, I have a 8830 BB on VZ that I use for work so I am used to the smart phone platform and what you can do with it.

I plan on using more mobile web (sucks on the 8830, and work monitors it) and it is nice to have a GPS with me at all times. Many of the location types of apps appeal to me as well as an occasional game and perhaps a more texting than I do on my ATT dumb phone since any type of qwerty keyboard will be easier to use. As I browse the app stores, I always see things that I am interested in. I also will use the new phone to listen to music instead of carrying a seperate mp3 player with me.

I am really only looking at the Palm OS and the Android. With Palm being bought by HP, it makes me feel better about it staying around. I hope that HP plans on putting necessary resources behind the phone part of its purchase, not just strip out the OS and make its own iPad clone. Android will probably only get bigger and bigger like Google itself. If it can catch up to Apple, time will tell.

With all that rambling...I am looking for a dedicated keyboard, but that is not a deal breaker. I would like good battery life, but as I have found out, with this kind of phone, you must always have a charger around!

I am wondering what Sprint has in the pipeline in the next month or so with regards to new phones.

I am just trying to do my reasearch and make an informed decision because 2 years is a long time to be stuck with a phone you don't like.

Thanks again for any thoughts!

Dave,
Sprint has the Evo 4g super phone coming out in a month or two.
I think both WebOS and Android are good platforms. Android appears to be getting a lot of aps lately. Both are great for surfing the web. It will be interesting to see what HP does with WebOS.
I would not get either of Sprints current Android phones unless they release 2.0 or 2.1 for them prior to. They should be any day now - but it has been delayed for some time.
I would only go with BB if you HAVE to have it for work. My dad has one and surfing is terrible.

My lines are not up until the end of May, so I am going to watch the boards to see what Sprint has in the works. I am in the metro Detroit area and not sure when 4G is due to roll out here. I will be month to month so if I have to wait a little longer, so be it.

Thanks

Dave
