hey... im a long time reader and ive been researching this for awhile but i cant get a clear answer on what im looking for... i was hoping the fine people of HoFo could assist and give some opinions.

to give you all an insight of my background, i work for motorola's iden tech support and i deal with sprint/nextel/boost/southern linc/telus customers daily... i hear horror storries of their CS experiences, with misinformation and the like being thrown about like mud in a political campaign... the iden technology is poor and hardly worth glancing at imho... i personally like motorola's technological standpoint, but just not with the iden division... im an expert with the iden phones and i know some things with the other technologies but...

heres the senerio... im on a share plan with uscc and the contract is coming to a close and im looking to get a new provider when that contract expires. im looking for a provider that works nationally, because im planning on visiting southern CA or posably(sp) moving there in the near future, otherwise, ill stick around in northern IL... im torn between getting verizon cdma service or either tmobile or cingular gsm service... and of which im looking for a phone that meets my demands as a "tech-junkie"... i had verizon with the e815 before, the service was great, but i know how they "restrict" their phones capabilities (seem edits are fun though )

i want to know which provider would be better for me for the following reasons without walking into a sales-type conversation with someone that will basically brown-nose a sale out of me when im not ready... not in order of importance...
service qualitycustomer service qualityphone technologyshare plans and data access
to define each;

service quality would be would i get service in my city (Rockford, IL) and where im going (San Diego, CA)? can anyone from experience tell me if they work well locally and nationally? i heard there were issues with gsm voice quality sounding worse than that of cdma... this would be pretty important...

CS quality would be defined as if i have a problem, they would resolve it as best they could, as opposed to being bounced around like a volleyball... (sprint/nextel, im looking at you... lol)

phone technology would be latest features and functionallity in phones and PPC phones and smartphones. (ie: bluetooth capability, wifi, etc.) this can also be defined to swapping phones though gsm like those sold "unlocked".

the plans and data im looking at pricing... that sort of thing...

just a little feedback would be appreciated... probably backed up with personal experience stories and examples...

Thx lots

The e815 is discontinued and that was the best phone for hacks there is some for the new v3m with verizon and they will be getting the slvr sometime toward the end of the year and they do have a few nice phones at this time including the chocolate.

im not sure if i was very clear in my OP... i dont actually want a "phone" phone... im looking for a data capable device, like a smartphone or pda (or ppc) phone... i was interested in getting the Q if i go verizon though...

i was just wondering if there was something i was missing with GSM providers...

any input?
