Which OLD Cartoons Are Popular With Kids Today?

It amazes me how Aladdin is the only old Disney movie that Disney continues to air. Aside from it airing on Disney Channel like once a month it's now airing on ABC Family as well. And it got me thinking...what are the old cartoons that kids like these days? Disney doesn't air Aladdin just for the heck of it. Obviously they're getting good ratings. The only other ones I can think of at the moment are Scooby-Doo, Tom & Jerry, and the `90s Marvel cartoons which have been airing on Disney for some time now.

I agree with you that Scooby Doo and Tom & Jerry are pretty popular with the kids considering how many DTV movies they get. Also, a lot of the Disney classics still attract younger audiences (Cinderella, Jungle Book, Snow White, etc).

I would have to guess An American Tail is popular, as it's the only Bluth film I see aired on TV on a fairly consistent basis.

Four posts and no utterance of Looney Tunes? Insanity. Granted, it doesn't air on TV often anymore, but kids today definitely recognize the characters.

Scooby-Doo is really popular with today's generation due to it's constant airtime on Cartoon Network. I can't imagine that kids these days get to see a lot of good cartoons because of Boomerang starting to air recent shows and the constant schedule changes. I'm sure classic cartoons would be way more popular if there was a better chance to see them. I still want a classic Disney network.

I hate to say it, but Looney Tunes aren't as popular as they used to be. That has a lot to do with WB not doing anything with them. Atleast back in the `90s we had Tiny Toons, Taz-Mania, and Space Jam.

Recognize them? Yes. Popular? Not quite. Sure, if there is another Looney Tunes movie, the kids will go see it. That doesn't mean that they like it as much as Spongebob or Avatar. Mainly because they're generation hasn't been as exposed to Looney Tunes as we were with The Bugs and Daffy Show and reruns on Cartoon Network. I was lucky enough to grow up watching the informative Toon Heads block until it was scrubbed in 2001.

Also, if were talking the ACTUAL Looney Tunes from the 30's-50's, a lot of them don't hold up as well that well with younger audiences. When I was very young I couldn't understand how Looney Tunes was funny outside of a few humorous gestures and Mel Blanc's voice. Now I'm 23 and they're the funniest thing in the world to me. Also, considering how the politically correct the world is becoming and how many LTs they've had to cut from television (namely all of Speedy Gonzales), LT is pretty much off the big networks making it harder for younger audiences to get into it.

But that's exactly what I want. I want Looney Tunes to come back to Cartoon Network. We've already taken a step in the right direction by bringing back Bugs Day to CN.

The Simpsons aren't all that old. They still have new episodes being made, plus a movie just 2 years ago.

Scooby Doo is a main one, considering they keep making all those movies. (I haven't been keeping up, so maybe they stopped making those.)

There was also a lot of exposure in the `90s thanks to Tiny Toons, Taz-Mania, Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries, and the Space Jam movie. Plus, those Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunnys commericals that were the inspiration for the movie.
