Which new car(s) (Ford or GM) gets the best gas mileage?

I'm in the market for buying a new car. I don't want to buy used because I've had too many problems with used cars before. I want to stay local and support Detroit's economy, so I'm looking for either a Ford or GM car. Does anyone know which cars get the best gas mileage? Thanks!

but thats not the only reason one buys a car for looks how it handles ride Options more than just fuel mileage
