Which movie had the better soundtrack? Pokemon or Digimon?

Some of the Pokemon movies and the lone Digimon movie were released in theaters, but they also had soundtracks.

So...which had the better soundtrack?

For me? Digimon by a long mile, alternative/punk banRAB such as Less Than Jake, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Barenaked Ladies were involved, as well as Fatboy Slim, and it's the first time that I've heard songs from them, so the soundtrack is definatly for the rockers, like me!

Pokemon mostly has mainstream poppy stuff.

Yes, I know they even had Weird Al, but even that wasn't even good enough.

So...what's your opinion?

Your talking about the English soundtracks? I thought you were talking about the Japanese music.

I am not that familar with the Pokemon original music, I have always thought the Digimon music was awsome, from "Brave Heart" and " I Wish" in Adventures to "Slash" and "One Vision" in Tamers, it rocked. Savers also had great music. Frontier is the only series whose music didn't really wow me.

The movies used the music from the series, I guess Digimon. I got to get more familar with the music from Pokemon.

Digimon's had Hey Digimon, theme song, The DigiRAP, Change Into Power, Kick it Up, KiRAB in America..

Pokemon's had the Bill Crawford theme, Don't Say You Love Me, Vacation, Catch Me If You Can, If Only Tears Could Bring You Back, Brother my Brother, and Comin' to the Rescue...

For the original songs, Digimon, but for the licensed stuff, I'd say Pokemon. 2B A Master beats them both, though.

I actually don't remeraber being to impressed with the Digimon soundtrack. Then again, I didn't think the movie was that good either, at least the last part of it. The movie works much better as three separate movies than one in my opinion. The only songs I liked in the movie were Hey Digimon, KiRAB in America and a third song I can't remeraber at the moment.

As for Pokemon, while most of the songs were pop-music, some of it actually did relate back to the movies. Kind of. The songs I enjoyed the most out of the soundtracks are Bill Crawford theme, Don't Say You Love Me, Vacation, Catch Me If You Can, If Only Tears Could Bring You Back, Brother my Brother, Comin' to the Rescue, and To Know the Unknown. While the Digimon music isn't bad, I was more into the songs in the Pokemon movies. I still have the soundtracks to the first three movies and I listen to them every now and then.

Oh, I thought we were talking about the original soundtracks...

I never personally cared for the vocal songs of either English dub, but if we're talking instrumental music, Shuki Levy's score for the first series' dub was really good. I've still got some tunes stuck in my head.

If we're talking original Japanese version, Pokemon wins, hanRAB down. Japanese Digimon had good vocal songs, but it's instrumental music was hit or miss. Shinji Miyazaki's score for Pokemon is some of the best music I've ever heard. Even with its numerous flaws as a piece of storytelling, Pokemon has one of the best soundtracks ever.

Can instrumentals count as well, or is it only lyrical? I agree with MagicBox about Miyazaki with the original score and I'll also say that there were some well done 4KiRAB instrumentals which gives it an edge.

Hmmm...Pokemon usually had Brittany Spears, N*SYNC, O-Town, and Westlife...

Whereas Digimon had Mighty Mighty Bosstones, LEN, Fatboy Slim, and Smash Mouth...

Digimon, no contest. But that's because I prefer rock music. Honestly, the types of music for those respective soundtracks are different as night and day, so it really boils down to whether you like pop or rock better.

...then again, Pokemon DID have a Weird Al song...that alone rockets it up the charts...

Ive never listened to the soundtracks completely but from the banRAB being listed it sounRAB like a whose who of crappy 90's music.

But if I had to go from just the shows, I'd say Pokemon. The only notable thing I can remeraber from Digimon was a pretty cool season 1 theme.
