I am interested in increasing the optical zoom on my Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H7 (15X optical zoom, 74mm camera).
I have found two products that I think would be good choices, but need help deciding which to go with.
1 - Vivitar Series 1 High Definition 3.5X Telephoto Lens For The Sony CyberShot DSC-H7, H9, H50 Digital Cameras
OR:
2 - Sony VCL-DH1774 Telephoto Lens 1.7x For Cyber-shot® DSC-H7, DSC-H9 or DSC-H50 Digital Camera
The Vivitar has twice the magnification, but the latter is made by Sony (who I would assume would make a better product for their own DSC-H7).
I typically use the camera for sports/music events (where I'm usually seated pretty far from the center of action). Also, I will be attending intercollegiate concrete canoe races in a few months (organized by ASCE), and want some close shots of the racing canoes.
For those who have used a Sony CyberShot, and have added a telephoto lense (or tele conversion lense) to increase zoom, please let me know how well you think the product was, and which did you end up using?
How much image clarity do you think will be sacrificed with the increased magnification?
