I am 19 years old and getting ready to apply to law school next fall. I will be only the third person from my small university ever to even apply to law school, and the professors here, though well intentioned, are somewhat less than helpful. The books can tell me general ideas, but I want to know, considering my unique qualifications, which types of law schools I should seriously consider applying to. Any intelligent answers from educators, lawyers or anyone with a relevant background would be very much appreciated.
GPA: 3.95
LSAT scores (practice exams only, will take in october): about 162
Major: Psychology
Minors: pre-law, philosophy
Activities: I am a DII athlete, involved in many community service projects, I am a peer tutor about 8 hours a week, I am a student fellow in English classes, I give campus tours, I work 3 jobs as lifeguard and swim instructor, I will be spending christmas vacation on a missions trip in Ecuador, and I will be graduating a full year early.
School: I go to a small university which is respected in the area and specializes in nursing. There are no law or poli-sci programs offered here as majors. We do, however, use the Harvard grading system, which is pretty hard- below 75 is failing, 94 is a low A, there are no minuses.
I know my GPA isn't perfect, and the LSAT scores leave much to be desired, but is it possible that all the other things I do can make up for those shortcomings? I want Harvard Law like nothing else in the world, is it possible for me to get in? What do I have to do? do I have time to do it?
