Which is worse - Rape or Murder?

But we treat it like it is, thus turning it into a psychological train wreck for the victims.

Back in the real world, on a scale of 1-10, 1 being a paper cut and 10 being a slow decapitation with a hot wire, rape rates about a 4 on the "bad things that can happen to you" scale...and may not even rate that high. Even today through huge portions of Africa and S America women are commonly raped. Instead of seeing it as a horrible, life altering event that they may never recover from, those women see it almost as an unpleasant inconvenience. Like a trip to the dentist.

We should all be thankful that we live in societies where we have it so easy, and are so sheltered, that we can sit around pondering silly questions like "which is worse, rape or murder". Through most of human history we would have been laughed at...and then possibly raped....for even asking a question that ridiculous.

What you described wouldn't be considered rape, IMO. It may qualify as third degree sexual assault or something along those lines, however. I don't view all "rapes" as equivalent. IMO, a husband that rapes his wife, for example, shouldn't receive the same treatment as a knife-wielding stranger in a dark alley.

I don't think it's ever "right" to force another to have sex, in or out of marriage.

At what age do you believe informed consent begins? Can an 8 year old that wants to have sex with an adult give informed consent? Your blanket statement in bold above is scary without qualifiers. :wow:

It's hard to say what is worse. I am just saying that coming from a woman's standpoint, that if I was ever held at gun or knifepoint while a person was attempting to rape me, I would try anything to escape. I would have to assume that they were going to kill me anyway and I personally would rather be killed quickly than tortured and then killed anyway.
