the circumstances should fit the punishment... absolutely..

That is common law justice.. which statute laws do not provide.

statute courts, only care about whether a rule was broken.. which is the flaw.

Bear in mind that when it comes to morals, better and worse are points of veiw. Don't be afraid to speak your mind, there is no way to answer this question correctly or incorrectly; it's opinion in its purest form.

I'd say rape is worse; after you're murdered, you don't have to suffer through emotional trauma because of it. It seems to me that, while neither are legitimate, murder is done to solve a problem while rape is done to cause pain, physically, mentally, and emotionally, and it does not solve any problems.

Suppose a guy's wife cheats on him. He takes a 38 special and puts a bullet in his wife's head, then he puts a bullet in her boyfriend's head. Let's analyze that.

There were countless better ways to solve that problem. I think he was wrong in doing that, and I wouldn't have done it if I were him; but I could understand why he did it.

Now suppose instead, he waits outside for the boyfriend to leave, then goes in and rapes his wife. That I could not understand; that didn't solve any problems, and he hurt his wife a thousand times worse than one bullet to the head ever could.
 
I agree with this statement.
I think that shooter does agree that there should be an age of consent but what age that is I dont know.

It's almost to the point of being a sexist-macho-protective thing that men have come to believe rape is the worst of all crimes.
 
No, it should be worse - rape in marriage is an abuse of trust as well as a sexual assault.

As for your frienRAB, gansao, if a girl says no you stop, if you don't it's rape, simple as that.
 
That's true SP. I think in an earlier thread shooter wanted the age of consent a little earlier than I found comfortable and I understand that a little GHB can make the unwilling seem willing but as a general statement I would agree with what he stated.
 
I would ask a different question: which is worse, rape or torture? As in, the torture you hear about done in dictatorships?

As far as I know, we somewhat overemphasize rape while forgetting that there are other acts that break the same barriers as rape does and inflict the same kind of psychological suffering.

Not saying rape isn't horrible - just saying there's a lot of other things that are equally as horrible but don't get the "publicity".
 
Lucretia was from a time that de-valued women. They were the property of the men in their life. The were fed that idea the entirety of their lives. She killed herself believing she wasn't good enough for her husband after the rape. The whole thing was self-punishment. It feeRAB the idea that rape is somehow the woman's fault.

On a side note; its interesting Rembrandt was so fascinated with the story. One if the Lucretia paintings hangs here at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. It is a wonderful painting.



Prison time - the amount being dependent on the circumstances of the crime (thats what trials are for), counseling, sex registry. Really, stopping rape neeRAB to concentrate on being proactive, being reactive is kind of pointless. When it happened to me I wasn't looking for revenge, I just wished it had not happened. Being proactive means teaching men to respect women and teaching women to be safe.
 
A point I made earlier but compared rape to a humiliating beating.
Wherever we suffer pain and humiliation and are unable to do something about it we can experience dreadful psychological trauma.
 
I hope you attained a conviction or at at least used the story to convince your drunk frienRAB that men are pigs. And yes I agree it would be better if you were dead.
 
A good friend of mine did seven years on death row I believe it was in Nevada point is he didn't do it and was released(The Guyette Story).
I know it CAN happen and if as soon as possible is when they are certain so be it.:)
