Which is the lesser of the two evils?

Ok, so in the spring, I applied for a job as a CA (Community Advisor. Just like an RA.) at my college. I didn't get the job. So I ended up being cajoled into running for a position in RHA and getting it. (I didn't really want to run, but my arm was kind of twisted.) Today I get a call from one of the complexes asking if I was still interested in being a CA. I told them to leave me in the pool for the year and to see how things go with RHA. (I had a huge issue with our president over a non-issue this past spring.) Now I don't know what to do. I'm committed to RHA, but I can quit that at any time. Here are some pro's and cons I've been weighing in my mind.

Community Advisor:
Pros: Bi-weekly paycheck
Free room (About a $5000/yr. savings)
Great opprotunity to make friends

Cons: Lots of meetings
Duty hours until 3 am (Twice a week)
Writing people up
Move in Mid August
Don't get to choose where I live on campus
Very Time consuming

RHA Secretary:
Pros: $950 Stipend (Divided into $475 for Fall and Spring semester.)
Reduced room rate (a single for the price of a double. About a $1000/yr savings.)
Fewer weekly meetings (2 meetings a week)
A laptop to use during meetings
I get to choose which complex I live in

Cons: Many outside activities (ie. fund raisers, RHA campus events, ect.)
Move in 1.5 weeks before classes start
Office hours every week (3 hrs. a week)
Not a ton of opprotunity to make friends
Very Time consuming

I'm just very torn between wich one to choose. Doing the Community Advisor job has more responsibility, but I get paid more and I get paid more often. If I stick with RHA, I get to choose where I live, but I don't get paid as much. I just don't know what to do. And if I do choose to leave RHA and persue the CA job, what do I tell the other RHA board members?

Well mags, you haven't given us all the data we need.

But from other posts as I recall you're cash strapped and unsure as to being able to afford to go back. So, the CA, with it's bigger $$ savings and better pay makes a lot of sense.

The RHA doesn't afford the $$ opportunities and also costs you most of your social life. Yes, CA has it's downsides... you won't be hanging out whith the twits you're writing up very much.

Both positions are pretty equal in most ways. So there are two things that you need to take into account. The financial side, and the joy side.

CA wins the finances. But which one would make you happier?

I agree with the money idea. Also Uber makes a great point about the happiness issue. I would choose the RHA job, but I'm also not that bright of a person and hates working.

I say take the one that doesn't kill your social life. My reason is because I once took the opportunity that would fuck up my social life and did. I am still paying for it to this day. If you don't have the money then you can always get a part time job somewhere. All I know is that you don't want to find yourself sitting around wishing that you had somebody to hang out with.

I vaguely remeber you telling me about your college tuition and marriage a long time ago. I think going for CA would be the best bet because you save money, and you'll be able to meet new people.

Even though they are both time consuming, its a LOT easier to work if you work with people that you like. They job that I have right now is really tedious, but I have a great group working with me, and it makes it a lot easier.
