Which is the better SmartphoneOS and why?

actually, the iphone is not being marketed as a smartphone. it is marketed towards the american "razr crowd". these are the same people who have never seen an N95 or heard of HTC. thats the crowd that the iphone most appeals to (with a few exceptions). and im not bad mouthing the iphone.

back to the topic, Symbian has to be #1, its so great, happy user for almost 3 years . if your looking for a touchscreen pda, then it would either have to be windows mobile pro or symbian uiq, however i think windows mobile takes it in this situation
 
Steve Jobs's employees that are running around posting threads in various forums are marketing the iPhone as a smartphone.

It's true about the marketing angle, but they're basically marketing a (crippled) OS-based device as being able to do things...something that other OS-based devices (what we call "smartphones") have been able to do for a while. Of course, this crowd might be a little wary of the word "smartphone" so maybe there's a market there for a limited, more appliance-like one. And it DOES look like it has a pretty slick interface.

I wonder why UIQ never seemed to take off in the US? From what I've seen, it's a decent system. Of course, there are MANY more differences between S60 and UIQ than there is between the two Windows Mobile versions...Maybe S60v4 will fix that if it adds touchscreen support; there might not be any need for the separate UIQ interface, and then some of the apps can be cross-compatible between touchscreen and non-touchscreen OS versions.
 
whats all this talk about S64v4? is this something your just talking about or is it set to come out soon or something?

and as for the iphone, its targeted towards a very niche market i believe. the crowd that wants a smartphone but has no clue what a smartphone is.....so they but a dumb smartphone
 
Jobs did compare iPhone with 4 smartphones during Macworld and mentioned it will be SMARTER and EASIER... it's easier all right... by no means it's smarter.
 
I just realized the chart Iphone is compared to is smartphones. Now only if they compared AD2P support, GPS, Camera etc and see X's on the Iphone.
