Which is more usefull while exploring in the woods a tomahawk or a knife?

I love to just go exploring in the forest (I live in southwest virginia there's woods for miles in every direction) I go many times a week and I prefer to have a cutting tool handy I used to always bring my 7 inch blade k-bar knife for whatever I might need it for like:cutting down small trees,clearing a path,or marking my trail ect. But I just. resently got a new tomahawk made completly out of stainless steal handle and all and it is small and light it is about the same weight as the k-bar and I wanted to know which would be more useful while exploring the forest
