Leaving no tip, or rounding up to the nearest dollar amount? Before I get angry responses about how they live off their tips, and blah blah, let it be known, I usually tip 10+ dollars for a good waitress and a good meal. Tonight my husband and I went out and our drinks weren't filled once, the waitress boxed our food and just threw it all in, and didn't ask if we wanted dessert before throwing (literally) our check on the table. I left an 81cent tip.

Would the message have gotten through better if we left no tip at all?

spare change, like the first girl said, it shows that you diddnt just forget, or that someone diddnt swipe it, and is REALLY infuriating, specially if you busted your butt...

But in your case, She deserved the insult.

Im an exceptional tipper, leaving sometimes as much as 40-50% for good service and thats on a $100 check, but then again, i used to be a server so i know how hard it can be

Probably no tip would be more insulting.
But I think giving her a very small tip was good, because she did her job, not in a very good manner but she did something..

I find leaving no tip the most insulting, pocket change i hardly pick up but it leaves the option to.
