Which is better T2 or T3? What about T3 battery mention?

All input/advice appreciated:

Since breaking the screen on my zire71 (through sheer stupidity) I've had time to consider my options for upgrading/replacing/fixing.

I've come to the conclusion that a T2 or T3 works best for me and my current needs/purchased programs.

BUT I've read the T3 has a short battery charge life and this really concerns me.

Please can someone give me their 2 cents on both units. I've already STUDIED all of the rabroad reviews I found on all of the palm units I've considered.

Important
-MUST have a universal connector connection (huby has my old m500)
-mp3 music playable
-email reading/write (send/receive when sync)
-color
-reasonably fast, reliable, easy to use

Not needed/not important
-Bluetooth/on the go internet

My current options
-pay the $230 swiss franc cost to send in replace screen on my current zire71. (broken screens not covered under extended warranty which is where I am at right now having bought this zire71 may 2003). BUT if I fix the screen what if something else goes? Since I'm in switzerland and the extended warranty was purchased with A&B Sound in Canada. Apparently to fix anything covered under the extended warranty would mean sending my unit first to A&B Sound and have them send it to palm. Then palm send it to A&B and A&B send it to me. I don't have that much confidence in them being that organized-either palm or A&B Sound. My zire71 started experiencing a buzzing screen and digitizer drift but I still hung in there til I leaned on the screen. Duhh. I loved the Zire71 but it just doesn't seem practical to fix.

-UPGRADE/EXCHANGE buy the palm online store T2 or T3 (haven't decided which is better or cheaper-no reply yet from them) and with my sending my broken screen zire71 receive 25% discount on T2 or T3 purchase. BUT with this deal I'm unsure if I only get a handheld or the handheld with what normally comes with it. (i.e. swiss powered usb cradle would be a PLUS).
I've decided to get my hubby to send a fax on monday with the hopes I receive a reply SOON.

-forget replacing or exchanging and instead buy a $479 swiss franc Tungsten T3 (concerned about short battery charge life I've heard about). This is a good option if the above exchange option isn't good as it would be nice to charge the handheld without a travel charger for once (to use a swiss plug/powered cradle).

Nothing is cheap/easy in switzerland.

The price for a T3 is a lot lower than the $439 you mentioned. palmOne lowered the price of the T3 to $350 when the T5 was released.

The battery problems existed on the early releases of the T3. palmOne has since upgraded the rom and the battery life isn't nearly as bad now. All the T3s shipping now have the upgraded rom.

The T3 has MP3 capabilities, bluetooth, and a Universal Connector. In addition, the T3 has 64MB of internal memory. This is significantly higher than what is found in most other Palm OS devices. I have had a T3 for nearly a year and I have been perfectly happy with it.

Ultimately, only you know what you want to get. This is just my 2 cents.

Just wanted to THANK YOU for the reply on the T3.

I've since come to the conclusion to give my zire71 another try at success (fixing the screen as that was my stupidity not its).

When my husband's freebie m105 had problems I arranged to have stuff fixed/replaced with palm. No prob. (came free with my then purchase of m500).

Then I had multiple replacement units for m500 for a variety of problems that croped up.

Since having the Zire71 I've had no real complaints, problems or reason to exchange. It worked nicely, reliably and with LONG battery charge prior to my breaking the screen. It just makes sense to me to stay with what works with my so far history of problem units.

I don't blame palm for making malfunctioning units, rather consider how many they make and probably how many have a glitch or two, and lastely how many good units we never hear anything about. Its just too bad that customer service is often lacking or not up to the standards we expect.

I understand that newly released units often are not yet user fully try tested and perfect, whether they be the T5 or older (when they first came out), so I do agree that older version of the T3 perhaps do not have the same problems the firstly released handhelds may have had.

Thank you VERY much once again for your reply. Now I await palm support here in Europe to reply once again to my email (this does take some time) and get this fixing done.

So glad to hear of another user's positive experience with a handheld.

And a final tip from me. DO NOT LEAN ON YOUR HANDHELD WITH YOUR ELBOW. Yeah laugh-who'd do that? Well I did. STUPID.

Cheers
