New contract time. My RAZR is okay; voice quality a bit shoddy, or so my friends tell me, but I have no need for a camera or mp3 player.
I do anticipate being far away from computer kiosks and other regular access (ah, college, how I miss thee) for the next year or so, so wireless internet and email would be a plus.
Which phones (and plans, if wireless speed is still an issue, but it looks like EDGE/EVDO/Vision are all fast enough for phone use) work the best for wireless internet?
I went and played around with some demo phones but didn't have time for a salesman to walk me through it. I liked the Blackberries on price (the $59/mo data+voice plan from T-mobile seems reasonable), have heard bad things about the Moto Q, but that's about it.
Another concern is durability and size - the pocket PC's are on the large end of the scale for me (e.g. the samsung i730).
Options(what have I missed):
Blackberries (71xx, 8700x): Like the size (on both the brick and wide models), heard it's email is killer for business use but everything else sucks.
Moto Q: like the size, hear bad things about it
Treo 700: expensive, don't really need a PDA; small screen for the price.
Treo 650: palm os; don't know that much about
T-Mobile MDA: looks nice if a bit large
T-Mobile Sidekick: Is there a reason this isn't that widely considered on this forum? Too large/clunky?
My priorities are:
1. ease of surfing/email
2. suitability as phone (compact/durable/voice quality)
Help would be appreciated. Have done some searching (which is how I found the MDA - T-mobile guys were not that helpful today), but have only really turned up 1 phone vs other phone comparisons. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
