which first street bike is right for me?!?!?

First off I am not a little guy, I weight about 200lbs, and am about 6'2". I have been riding dirtbikes for a while and have decided to step up to the street. I have ridden anything from a 250cc 2 stroke to a 450cc 4 stroke. I have been looking around and have tested the kawasaki ninja 250 and a 600 by yamaha, the kawasaki just felt small and awkward, dident really accelerate well with me on it, but the 600 just felt better I cant explain it, so my true question is, is this the right way to go or should I buy the 250 to begin, kinda lost But i dont want to go larger than the 600 for the first bike...Also If you think there would be a better bike to try list it and I will try to go out and find one to test drive...
 
The 600cc sports bikes are great track day tools but awful on the road - far too focused. even worse at our height! Look at the non sports bike types. They will still go as fast as you will ever want to and will be a whole lot nicer to live with.
