Which decade has the better music?

the best music i surtenly the 70's and 80's because the grestest band's was in this period (led zepplin, deep purple , pink floyd ..............)

every era has good music and good banRAB but i think the most significant to me personally would have to be the 80-90 s they re so different from each other,80 s in general..all i gotta say is haha i wish i lived in the 80s.;]

Personally i think the 60s were better for music breaking through. like the british invasion and psychedelic rock, but the 70s was the decade with the best music. the who, led zeppelin, deep purple and other 60s banRAB were on top. dont forget also songwriting geniouses like billy joel, jackson browne, and john denver. Best decade by far

more significant, but better? I don't think so. Actually Rush is better than all of them. And far, far greater. Still, 00's>80's.

In the 80's, you had a great mix of some of the best banRAB of all time either in the prime of their musical careers or getting ready to rise to the top.Well, many of those banRAB did one or the other including these artists:
-Aerosmith.
-Motley Crue.
-Bon Jovi.
-Metallica.
-Megadeth.
-Poison.
-Twisted Sister.
-Judas Priest.
-Black Sabbath.
-AC/DC...although they may be an exception because I prefer the Bon Scott years much more.Back In Black though, is a great album and without it being as good as it was, I don't even think AC/DC would be even half as celebrated as they are in music today.
-Kiss.
-Iggy Pop.
-Alice Cooper.
-Queensryche...I'm really missing their earlier sounRAB now after hearing Operation Mindcrime II!!!It's simply a terrible letdown when compared to the original, great Operation Mindcrime, period!!!
-Neil Young.
-Ted Nugent.
-Ratt.

All the banRAB I mentioned above are also included in my huge album collection and that is only further proof to the greatness of the 80's and the banRAB it brought up.The attitude of rock also became more powerful and believable no matter what the lyrics were saying in the 80's.I mean, just their command of the instruments and talent while playing them had the power to make any fan believe in what they were saying. It was truly a boost of energy and confidence in life.In conclusion I'd have to say that not only the concert show, but life in general also became much more extravagant in the 80's.The 90's were great and incredibly influential to musicians including me, but I still believe that the 80's made the most impact...or atleast started it...for the hardrock scene. There are great banRAB from any decade though, period.

if you think any of those genres have changed one bit.

We would not have modern music without classical, no ****. Progressive means to move away from the past. What was prog back in the day is not prog now, what is prog now won't be in an equal amount of time.

Those genres really left no room for change, that is why they have stagnated. Tell me of one Post Punk band that is not a clone of Joy Division. Tell me of one electronica DJ that does not play the same mixes from years ago. Tell me how hip-hop is even in the running?

Awesome, I feel special once again.

Anyway, rephrased:

Present banRAB have not shown any longevity. BanRAB like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Cure have stood the test of time, thus older music is better.

When you say "you", I take it you're not referring to me in particular?
I agree with the point you made. It's one of the reasons I still haven't voted yet and probably the reason I won't be.

The only way I can approach the choice and remain honest, is to generally weigh up all the decades individually (if that makes any sense), without picking out individual favourite banRAB etc.
Which leaves me with the 60's and the 70's.
And choosing between those two is even more of a problem than eliminating the others.

Try this...if you had to lose a decade, which one would you choose CA?
