Which decade has the better music?

Ok, that one, but only that one!

That song is actually about an industrial accident at the Tate & Lyle factory in Doncaster. It was originally "Pour some treacle on me". Bit of trivia for you.

60's

what a great time to live through that must have been with all the new never before heard music coming out from the beatles, Velvet underground etc
60's also had the mini skirt:thurab:

I read that as "Robert Plant and Kyuss"...which would be weird as hell.

I used to think that the 80s had the best music, but now I don't care as there's been so much great music each decade from th 50s onwarRAB that I can't be fucked sorting thru it all and deciding what's best. If you're set on a particular genre or scene, as I was with 80s hardcore/alternative, and as some people here obviously are with "classic rock", then it's easy to choose. But the more music I listen to, the more I appreciate everything for what it is

Or something.

Yeah...it's angers me sometimes...I mean The Backstreet Boys also...it's awful...but we very rarely get tortured with that unless I've done something really bad :P

Like when I got fired...It was Backstreet Boys, Westlife and Good Charlotte for a month...

:jailed:

I'm going to have to take the stance that this decade is the most musically creative. While I have a tremendous appreciation for the progression made in music within the past 5 decades or so (the introduction of new genres and such), it seems clear to me that the more you have to work with the more creative you can be.
What we have in this decade is artists creating music based on years and years of knowledge about the largest variety of influences ever seen. The ability to take electronica, rock, soul, hip hop, and all the other kinRAB of music, and meld these into genre-bending tunes has produced UNLIMITED possibilites.
"Older" music (oldies and classic rock, in particular) will probably always remain my favorite "kind" of music, but some of the new stuff of the 2000's is absolutely enthralling and exciting.

Long story short, creativity to me is not simply saying "Wow, I've never heard anything quite like that before". Rather, it's being able to say "WOW, I never knew music could DO that!!!" And this decade's music has given me more of those moments that any other.
