"Graciousness" in all its guises seems to be my dominant personality trait - to the point where I get in trouble for it. I've lived in many countries, but with few exceptions did I ever find any favour anywhere with my overly pleasant manners. English-speaking countries seem to prefer a more acidic personality in a man than I have to offer, and in Northern Europe and Australasia, I come across as dangerously weird, simply far too soft for real life, and I'm often being asked if I'm on some drug or other because of it. I'm not, in case you wonder. I just like it mellow, and I like being nice. I did seem to fit right in in Japan, and had moments of perfect harmony in the company of Turks and Jordanians. But those are very exotic places for me culturally. I'm a fairly Caucasian sort of guy who enjoys the lifestyles of Canada, New England, Sweden, and New Zealand the most so far. Is there any hope I might find a place that fits the bill for me?
Maybe some sort of "Scandinavia of the Middle East"?
Could Israel be that place? I've never been there.
Any others, maybe?
