Which country (within the Anglosphere) makes the best music?

Thats why i'd pick the U.S.

/rimshot

If I have to make a list though:

Beck
TV on the Radio
Bruce
Waits
Dylan
White Stripes
Any rapper who mattered
99% of the Jazz that matters
Johnny Cash
Metallica

Edit: New Zealand?

I think the reason The Birthday Party are so well known is because they pretty much based themselves in London most of the time they were active, which was where most of the indie press were based too.

i think it has to go to the UK
there are just far too many banRAB you cant argue with...
almost all my favourites are Uk banRAB
most from either london or manchester...

what has the us given us...aerosmith?
nah a lot of cool banRAB come out of new york...not much else going on
so many ****ty LA banRAB and bland hip hop!!! except for the doors...

Australia is a nadir
a pub-rock obsessed musical black hole
although there is excellent indie and dance stuff coming up now
ie presets, juggers, cut copy
and yet another generation inspired by daft punk and the aforementioned

theres still hope for this country....

(ps i know i have been making extreme generalizations, dont take offence...especially seeing as that is kinda what this thread calls for)

It doesn't really matter, but atm I would say Australia simply because that is what I am obsessed with (The Necks, Dead Can Dance) but depending on the mood it can easily change to multiple other countries...

But overall, I would say American simply because my tastes are so entrenched in musical roots (Jazz and Blues) that it would take the cake.

The Swedish, probably. (Swedish isn't even an official language there). Seeing as how English has been a compulsory language in school since the 1940s, I'd imagine most people are pretty fluent. Easier to get around there on English than Quebec, I'd imagine.

Well, the U.S. does most of the genres I like better than anyone else but i I had to make a list;

Nirvana
Alice In Chains
Soundgarden
Mudhoney
Circle Jerks
Operation Ivy
Sublime
Minor Thrat and Fugazi
Leftover Crack
Choking Victim
Flipper
Cro-Mags
Black Flag
Assorted Jelly Beans
Pretty much all rap

But yeah know I still have respect from banRAB from other countries of course.
This is somewhat of a useless topic because It's just gonna be whatever country your favorite banRAB mostly come from.

I added some banRAB to your list. I didn't want to name banRAB just for the sake of listing them, but I don't know too much about 80's music so threw in B-52's, REM, Pylon, Guadalcanal Diary, they were from Athens Georgia which had a burgeoning music scene before Seatle stoled it from them.
